Vetren Artist Roohi Bano

Vectren Pakistani artist Roohi Bano lived under sub human conditions in Gulberg II Lahore.

Her 22-year-old son was brutally murdered some years ago; she could not handle the grief and ever since then she walked around the neighborhood carrying a doll who she thinks is her son. She had no one to care for her, she lived alone.

We at The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry foundation (CICF) took care of her for several months in 2015 provided her with regular meals, groceries, clothing etc got her home cleaned up and made efforts to better her living conditions.

She was then institutionalized at Fountain House a facility in Lahore. She was on the President of Pakistan’s welfare fund. Roohi Bano was doing very well at Fountain House. She was well looked after and her condition had improved tremendously.  She actively participated in the institution’s programs and other festivities etc.

She was discharged and handed over to a family member with whom she was till she passed away.

She led a troubled and painful life; and we are grateful that with the support of friends and well-wishers we were able to reach out to Roohi Bano and despite all the challenges, we were able to bring some relief to her troubled life.

All of us at The CICF will forever treasure the memories of the time spent with her.

A journey towards a just, inclusive and equitable Pakistan; where every person is valued, every voice is heard, and every community has the opportunity to thrive.
