Child Rights and Child Sexual Abuse Awarness Programs

The alarming rise in child sexual abuse in Pakistan has sent a wave of deep concern across the country. It is this concern that compelled at The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) to initiate an awareness program within local communities.

We reach out to parents and teachers from grass root levels through interactive seminars creating awareness and discussing child sexual abuse protective and preventive measures. We conduct these seminars across Punjab and have been successful creating a lasting impact on the subject of Child Sexual Abuse.

Training workshops are conducted for young activists in order to sensitize them on the social, legal and psychological aspects of Child Sexual Abuse; to empower them to address this glaring issue within their respective communities in an effective manner.

We continue to reach out to communities on the issue of Child Sexual Abuse. The CICF stands committed towards creating a terror-free society, where every child is safe and protected. Child protection is essential for ensuring a strong and flourishing society.

Movement Against Child Abuse

The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF)launched a determined campaign to demand justice for children whose innocence is brutalized by abuse and rape.A public rally was held in this regard in Lahore.

“Movement against child abuse” is an effluence of the scourge of sexual violence committed against children in various forms with impunity.

Participating alongside CICF were rights activists, teachers, and most of all parents who were concerned about the alarming rise of sexual violence against children.

Though Pakistan ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on December 12, 1990, it is not enforceable and cannot be invoked in local courts for lack of supporting legislation.

The CICF is aggressively pursuing a two-pronged approach to eradicate child abuse and rape by demanding Effective Laws as deterrents and establishment of Police Complaint Cells at the lowest tier of local government machinery.

Effective Laws should provide horizontal justice to children supported by the establishment of Police Complaint Cells for families of abused children. The two objectives will necessitate an environment conducive to a childhood free of exploitation and terror.

The CICF also seeks to work towards the setting up of Rehabilitation Centers at government hospitals to counsel abused and raped children.

A journey towards a just, inclusive and equitable Pakistan; where every person is valued, every voice is heard, and every community has the opportunity to thrive.
